Decatur Kindergarten Children Learn About Saving Money

Family Security had the opportunity to speak with the kindergarten classes at St. Ann’s School in Decatur.  There were 19 students.  They had a wonderful time learning about why they should save money, and the importance of saving it at a credit union instead of at home.  These children were able to name the coins I placed in front of them, and also tell me how many of each one it takes to make a dollar. They did a fantastic job.  Nickels were the toughest, but with a little help they were able to learn that 20 nickels make a dollar. I surprised the children with showing them a coin that they had not seen before.  It was the gold dollar coin.  The children were so excited to see the new coin.  Each child was given a gold dollar coin as appreciation for their listening skills.
